The 11th "Bread-Wine-Olive Oil" festival dedicated to Bakaliko (convenience store)

The Municipality of Kalamata is organising for the eleventh year the Presentation of Agricultural and Local Products "Bread-Wine-Olive Oil" at the Municipal Park of Railways (skating area) on Saturday, August 3rd, 2024, at 8:30 p.m. This year, 14 cultural and women's associations from the Municipalities of Kalamata, Messina, and Pylos-Nestor will participate and will present 16 authentic traditional tastes from Messenia.

At the 11th "Bread-Wine-Oil", traditional dishes will be prepared by the women of the cultural clubs based on flour, oil, wine - as is the title of the event - but also the local artichoke, and the rice, coarse tomato, and the onion. Local traditional raw materials aim to highlight the traditions of Messinia and the traditional varieties of our vegetables, as well as our handmade pasta. In this way, handmade noodles and trachanas will be prepared live with the participation of children from the audience. In contrast, other traditional dishes will be prepared, such as milk pie, mustalevria, twisted macaroni, and sourdough bread.

In this celebration of tradition and authentic tastes, the following participate: Cultural & Beautifying Association of Messina, Cultural Association of Metamorphosis, Women's Association of Mikromani - Maria Polydouri, Cultural Association of M. Mantineia - Oi Mantineoi, Women's Association of Neromylos, Aris Women's Association, Cultural Association of Mikromani, Cultural Association of Ladas, Cultural Association of Kalami, Women's Association of Sperhogeia, Maniaki Cultural Association of Women, Association of Apantachos Mikromanaioi, Dimopoulos Family Thouria, Cultural Association of Paradisos Kalamata.

Sixteen authentic Messenian flavours will be presented: Bukies, korkofiggi, milk pie, rice and milk pie, lalaggi bread, lalaggides, mountain trachana, trachana plain, wild artichokes, mustalevria, twisted spaghetti, lalaggia, noodles, noodle spaghetti, tomato meatballs, sourdough bread.
