Palios Neromylos - Tavern
The Katsaprokos’ or Mavrogenis’ watermill is located in an idyllic location just 2 km from the town of Kyparissia, along the country road which leads to the villages of the Trifylia mountain.
The Old Watermill was restored with love, passion and absolute respect for its history and traditional architecture. The mill, which operated before 1850, has been declared as a preservable monument of the pre-industrial period by the Central Council of Modern Monuments in 2012 and it is a private initiative project.
The watermill also works as a small museum. All the equipment and tools that have been preserved, as well as many old objects, documents and souvenirs, are exhibited in its three big rooms.
A monument of nature is the property around the mill as well, a pure and virgin soil that has never been cultivated, full of trees and herbs, shiny and shady courtyards, the small river with the plane trees and a beautiful nature around it.
The watermill grinds every day, using water, with the old mechanism and the equipment that has been maintained.
At “Palios Neromylos” (Old Watermill) there is also a traditional coffee shop and a traditional little store, where you can find traditional drinks, sweets, herbs, dried fruit, natural cosmetics and many other products.
