Strofades
Strofades or Strofadia are a cluster of islands that include two small islands in the Ionian Sea, 27 nm south of Cape Geraki in Zakynthos and about the same distance from the islet Proti on the west coast of the Peloponnese.
The largest and southernmost of the two islands is called Stamfani, a rocky islet about one kilometer long, and the smallest is Arpia. Strofades became known for their beauty, their fertile land, their lush vegetation (there are several cedars and gardens with fruits and vegetables on the island) and because it is a passage for over a thousand species of migratory birds.
Stormy winds prevailed and still prevail on the island at times, in the form of a tornado, which the ancients used to identify with the phrase "swirls of the wind".
