Petra, like other mountainous villages of Ano Messinia, with its small population, largely retains its traditional colour with its stone houses and lush vegetation. At the small village of Petra lies the heart of the river Neda, as the springs of the river gush from a rock next to the courtyard of the Church of Anastasis.
