History of the theatre group
"Methexi" is a purely amateur theatre group founded in 2005 in Kalamata. It started from a group of friends with artistic pursuits, a need for creative expression and a love for theatre and developed theatrical activity in Kalamata. The group's animator and director is Petros Kladis.
2005: George Orwell's "Animal Farm" (theatrical adaptation) in Kalamata.
2006: Participation in the Orestiada Amateur Theatre Festival with George Orwell's Animal Farm. The show was awarded 1st prize for best performance, audience prize, best direction prize, costume prize, 2nd best actor and 2nd best actress award and a special commendation for make-up.
2007: Les Miserables by Victor Hugo (theatrical adaptation) in Kalamata.
2008: "The joyless state and the Leprechauns" (musical) by Haris and Panos Katsimihas in Kalamata.
2010: Bar Code (Bar theatre – the stitching together of scenes from movies that take place in a bar) in Kalamata and Athens.
2010: Kallipateira (theatrical act) at the theatre of Ancient Messina.
2012: Match Point (theatrical adaptation of Woody Allen's film by the same name) in Kalamata.
2014: Crime and Punishment by Fyodor Dostoyevsky (theatrical adaptation) in Kalamata.
2016: The Skulls of Connemara (theatrical adaptation of Martin McDonagh's Linnaean Trilogy) in Kalamata.
2017: Eugene O'Neill's Mourning suits Electra in Kalamata.
2019: The Seagull by Anton Chekhov in Kalamata.
2019: Participation in the 33rd Panhellenic Theatrical Competitions of Amateur Troupes of the Municipality of Zografou with The Seagull by Anton Chekhov. The show was awarded the 1st award for best performance, for direction, for stage scenery, the award for 2nd actor and the award for lighting.
2021: Sophocles' Antigone in Kalamata.
2022: Participation in the 37th Panhellenic Karditsa Amateur Theatre Festival with Sophocles' Antigone. The performance was honoured with an award for best direction and first female role and praise for the musical composition, the Dance and the role of Creon.
