Having been known since antiquity, chamomile is valued for the multiple benefits it provides to our health.
As a beverage it has sedative, tonic and antiseptic qualities. It also has antimicrobial characteristics. Chamomile “drink” is widely consumed due to its relaxing properties that are useful for achieving calmness.
Its name comes from its size and aroma. It is a low plant (chamo – down) and has an aroma that resembles that of an apple (mile – μήλο – apple).
