Elea
The beach of Elea is the northernmost beach of Messenia and is 10 kilometres from Kyparissia. It is located on the border with Ilia, and the river Neda (one of the two rivers in Greece with a feminine name) flows into it. It is a beach of several kilometres with golden sand and clear blue waters. The area is included in the protected areas of Trifylia as, every year, Caretta-Caretta sea turtles lay their eggs along the beach.
A beautiful pine forest (one of the largest in the country), ideal for camping and hiking, stretches just above the beach. On the beach of Elia, there are showers and two organised canteens, while nearby is the small village of the same name.
