Two trees, designated protected natural monuments for their botanical and aesthetic value, can be admired in Sidirokastro, 19 kilometres from Kyparissia.
The maple tree is unique in the area and was classified as a protected monument in 1980. It is an ancient tree located in a source of particular interest. The olive tree, known as "Arnokoureiki", is located in "Karougaina" (at an altitude of 400 metres), and its trunk has a circumference of 7.4 metres. The age of the olive tree (Olea europaea) is estimated to be more than 3000 years old, while Plato's olive tree (on the Holy Road of Athens) has a circumference of 4.8 metres and is 2500 years old.
