The small seaside village of Chrani is 7 km from Petalidi and 35 km from Kalamata. It has about 300 permanent residents - a number that triples during the summer months. It is a relatively new village since it began to be systematically inhabited in 1960 by the inhabitants of three older villages (Kakorevma, Kafos & Vigla).
Chrani is a village with many natural beauties, an ideal destination for holidays all year round. In addition to the large beach at the beginning of the village, there are three smaller beaches for those who prefer to relax away from the crowds. The privileged location of the village makes it easy to access and visit nearby destinations and historical monuments, such as Koroni, Methoni, Pylos, Ancient Messina etc. In Chrani, visitors can find various hotels, cafes and taverns for fun.
Finally, it should be mentioned that Norman Mike, the veteran pilot of World War II, who had taken part in dropping the atomic bomb on Nagasaki, spent the last years of his life in Chrani.
