For the tenth year, the Student Festival—Day of Action 2025 is taking place in Kalamata. The schools participate in the "What if it were you?" awareness programme for human rights and refugee issues.
As every year, a network of schools was created at the beginning of the school year with the aim of our students working on issues related to human rights and the acceptance of diversity in all its forms. The children work on empathy, acceptance of others, and understanding the right to equal opportunities for all. Theatrical techniques, experiential workshops, teaching visits, discussions, creative writing, etc., are used. At the same time, teachers participate in regular training, coordination, and information meetings during the same period, resulting in cooperation and mutual support. The culmination of this process is everyone meeting at a large festival at the end of the school year, which, with the support of a sufficient number of city bodies, aims to disseminate this work both in the school and the broader community.
This year, we focused on the issue of all children feeling accepted and safe in the school environment. We investigated the issue of intra-school violence and the factors that create it. We talked about boundaries and children's relationships with the family. We examined the issue of diversity and the responsibility of every active citizen not only for its defence but also for its acceptance.
