Takis Katsoulidis' Engraving Museum
The engraving museum Takis Katsoulidis was Founded in 2002, while Pavlos Ptoxos ran the office as a mayor. The artist gifted the Municipality of Messini 200 engravings,20 paintings, six art albums, one lithographic printing of the 19th century, woodcut matrixes and much more.
The Museum aims to exhibit the whole work of the famous painter-engraver in his native city of Messina and become the core of a culture that will contribute to the dissemination of art, mainly to the art of engraving, to the general public. For this purpose, on the ground floor of the museum, you may find laboratories of engraving, where courses of engraving art are scheduled, as well as temporary exhibitions of important Greek and foreign sculptors.
The artworks on display are the work of the past 50 years, while the charismatic artist continues to work for the Museum, adding new pieces of art honouring the City of Messini and Greece.
With studies at the École Supérieure des Beaux-Arts in Athens, at the École Supérieure des Beaux-Arts in Paris, and the woodcut and lithograph studios of Carni and Clairin Takis Katsoulidis, to my modest opinion, with his intellectual and his integrity, establish that his message to humanity and civilisation is echoed and absorbed, over and over again.
