LET'S GO FOR A WALK-A walk through the city's alleys

Spread the word

"Baxedes" (vegetable gardens) once surrounded Kalamata. The level of its soil morphology and the abundance of water everywhere in the surrounding areas made it an ideal place for growing fruit and vegetables. Back then, there were still streams full of water and artesian wells that gushed out. The newly built area east of Akrita Street was all "baxedes". It is so beautiful in this area of Kalamata! Especially in spring, with the wonderful aroma of the orange trees. We will see the remaining "manganopigada"-wells (industrial heritage items) in an area that in a few years will have changed entirely...
At the end, there will be a short stop at a farm for snacks (limited places).
Meeting point and time: Crete and National Stadium streets at 7.30 pm
