Ariochori administratively,apply to the municipality of Kalamata.It has an altitude of only 33 meters and is located in the Messinian plain.
The exact date of the establishment of the village is not known though it would be safe to say that the area was not inhabited before the Frankish rule (13th century) mostly because of the swamps that once existed there.
