White Night on August 30th
Spread the word

The "White Night", which has evolved into a celebration for the city, with offers from stores, artistic activities and events, and crowds of people flocking to the city of Kalamata, is also expected to be a major attraction and a major visitor attraction for our city this year.
This year too, traffic regulations will be in effect on Saturday, August 30, with a ban on vehicle traffic in the city center and the historic center, with visitor vehicles directed to the large parking lots of stores at the new entrance to the city (LIDL, METRO parking lots), as well as to the northern parking lot of the Central Market. Visitors will park around the city, and then, with notable routes, they will be transported by mini buses of the Kalamata Urban Bus Service, every 15 minutes, to the city centre, ending at Nedontos and the historic City Hall.
The Traffic Police are expected to implement specific traffic regulations for that evening, which are scheduled to start at 19.00 and end at 02.00, and to occupy the historic centre of the city and the most significant part of the commercial centre of Kalamata. The goal, as every year, is to give priority to pedestrians so that they can do their shopping and freely explore the "heart" of the city, enjoying the artistic activities that have been planned.
The shops will also work extended hours until 02:00 to serve the people who are expected to visit the city and do their shopping. The Kalamata Commercial Association has given directions to its members for offers and big discounts, especially for this particular evening.
At the same time, the Kalamata Cultural Centre will remain open, with a First Aid Centre and the presence of the Red Cross and the Greek Rescue Team, while the entire Municipal Police force will be on alert.
This year, the organisation will be multi-thematic, as many different artistic events are planned at the central points of the city's commercial centre, such as in the Central Square - Vas. Georgiou, on the Aristomenous pedestrian street, in the renovated 23rd March Square (Historic Centre), as well as in Aristomenous at the height of the Kalamata Municipal Hall. The programme includes small bands, as well as collaboration with the Municipal Conservatory, the Kalamata Music School and the contemporary dance schools of our city, which will embellish the evening's programme with dance performances in different parts of the shopping centre, giving a pulse and offering a musical and dance spectacle to the hundreds of visitors, who are expected to flood Kalamata again this year for the evening of the 11th White Night.
