"Travellers of Flavours" by SEM

On August 12th, at 8:00 p.m., Kalamata Beach will host a unique gastronomic and cultural event organised by the Messenia Food & Beverage Association, inviting residents and visitors to enjoy an evening filled with exceptional flavours, live music, and memorable experiences.

Supported by the Region of Peloponnese, the Municipality of Kalamata, and the Messenia Chamber of Commerce, with the valuable contribution of volunteers, the event aims to showcase the rich culinary heritage of Messenia through an immersive celebration of the region's land and sea.

Visitors will have the opportunity to watch live cooking demonstrations by local chefs, fishermen, and producers, who will prepare creative dishes using authentic local ingredients. Throughout the evening, traditional delicacies will also be served as finger food, giving guests the chance to sample a variety of outstanding regional specialities.

A special highlight of the program will be the symbolic revival of local traditions, including the ceremonial handover of freshly caught fish from fishermen to chefs, and the cooling of watermelons in the sea, customs that beautifully connect Messenia's heritage with its contemporary culinary identity.

The evening will also feature live music performed by a renowned Kalamata ensemble with piano, cello, and violin, while divers illuminating the seabed will create a spectacular visual display, providing a breathtaking backdrop to a summer celebration that brings together gastronomy, culture, and the beauty of the Mediterranean coast.
