Kalamata Mountaineering Association-Agia Theodora, Dasochori and Diavolitsi

On Sunday, April 27th, the Mountaineering Association is organising an excursion to the region of Ano Messenia in the Municipal Unit of Andania of the Municipality of Oichalia, which covers the NE part of Messenia. This wider area is of particular interest for its natural and cultural wealth. From distant antiquity and Ancient Andania to the present day, its presence in history is continuous. The Epicurius Apollo temple and the Temple of Agia Theodora, together with Neda, the Hill of Eira, the Nomia Mountains, and Tetrazi, along with the multitude of villages and settlements in the mountains and plains, form a landscape worth exploring.

The reason for this excursion was the effort being made in the region to highlight hiking and mountaineering routes that will form the "Andaneia Monopatia (paths)" on the Old Paths Network. We chose the route that connects Agia Theodora, Dasochori, and Diavolitsi in the Dryodasos, using forest roads and the Old Path, which ends at the Mastaina spring in Diavolitsi.
