Spread the word

The Kalamata Mountaineering Association plans a climb on Taygetos on Sunday, 25/05/2025, that could be described as the ultimate challenge.
This excursion starts from the sea and ends at the peak of Taygetos, with a starting point of 0 and a destination of 2,407m altitude, the highest point that someone can stand in the entire Peloponnese.
It is a climb of over twelve hours and over 25 kilometres long, aiming to cover the maximum possible altitude difference from the beach of Kardamyli to the peak of Pr. Ilias in one day.
In addition to the above information, we should add that this particular route crosses some of the most special and beautiful parts of Messinian Taygetos, passing through beautiful settlements, historical monuments, impressive gorges, forests, saddles and ridges.
Indicatively, we mention the historic Kardamyli, Exochori, the gorges of Vyros and Steno Lagadi. We will mainly follow the "Tseriotiki" route to the summit, from where, decades ago, the priest would climb to officiate at the chapel on the summit on the day of the feast of Pres. Elias. The descent will be made from the Messinian route in the forest of Vasiliki.
Difficulty level: 4+ (difficult, suitable for experienced hikers in excellent physical condition)
Duration: 13-14 hours
Departure: from the Association's reception on Sunday, 25/05/2025 at 4:30 a.m.
Information and registrations: Fykiris Konstantinos 6977716580.
