Companions IN NATURE-The Freedom Path in Ampeliona
Spread the word

The route will start from Ampeliona and descend, through a beautiful paved path, to the Tritseli spring. It continues under a deep, shady mixed forest, to the ridge in the Saraniva area, and then the path descends to the Variko spring. Then, the route proceeds to the village of Petra (formerly Delga). From there, the path continues to Neda's springs through old paths.
The springs of Neda are located a few hundred metres lower than Petra, next to the church of Agia Anastasi. The water gushes through the rocks, abundantly, all seasons of the year. The route crosses the river and reaches a plateau with two churches (Panagia and Agios Georgios), a stone bridge and an old watermill. The route continues on a lightly trafficked dirt road, with a view of the ravine and the watermill of Karamicha. After passing cultivated areas and old, abandoned farmhouses, it ends on asphalt for a few hundred metres. Leaving the asphalt, a path leads to the Kakaletreiki Panagia, in a stunning environment under the rich shade of plane trees and with the river flowing. After a few metres of asphalt, the route again uses old paths to the settlement of Kakaletri.
At the end of the hike, the group will eat at a tavern in the area.
