The Art Workshop of the Faris Community Centre of the Municipality of Kalamata completes another creative year, the 2024–2025 academic year, with a significant anniversary exhibition entitled "Art Routes".
The exhibition was inaugurated on Thursday, June 26th, 2025, by the Mayor of Kalamata, Thanasis Vassilopoulos, marking the end of the academic year. It is worth noting that the exhibition hosts hundreds of works by the 380 students of the Art Workshop. Painting, ceramics, engraving, iconography, drawing and children's art compose a colourful and polyphonic ensemble that captures the artistic course of the educational year.
This year's exhibition also has a special character: the Kalamata Art Workshop celebrates 40 years of continuous and successful operation. Since the first art workshops were established in Greece, they have consistently remained a unique space for education, creativity and collective expression.
Thirteen renowned art teachers are at the students' side, coordinated and artistically directed by sculptor Panagiotis Lambrinidis. For another entire year, they inspire and encourage each participant's personal artistic voice daily through a climate of teamwork and creative experimentation.
The artists who worked were Kelemendris Elli, Bourika Maria, Niforas Sotiris, Papadopoulou Nancy, Sakka Stavroula, Stavraki Margarita, Haniotis Angelos and the ceramists Kaleka Christina, Malliarou Konstantina, Petropoulou Dimitra, Politi Angeliki, and Skiada Angeliki.
During the year, many seminars were also held, enriching the curriculum and allowing participants to delve deeper into specific topics and techniques.
Notably, the number of students significantly increased for the third consecutive year, which improved the shop's dynamic and lasting impact in the local community and beyond. This year's total number of students was 660 (360 registered and 300 social contribution).
