Spread the word

The Experimental Stage of Kalamata will present on July 5-9, 2025, the performance of its teenage theatre group, "The Scarecrow's Dream" by Evgenios Trivizas at the Kalamata Cultural Centre Amphitheatre.
This is a theatrical text for children written by Evgenios Trivizas, featuring rich, inventive humour that the theatre group has been adapting theatrically since January.
The direction is by Giorgos Zontanos, the music by the well-known music composer from Thessaloniki, Giorgos Kazantzis, who will also be present at the premiere of the play, the sets, costumes, and poster by our own Nikoleta Vasilopoulou, the choreography by Dimitris Anastasopoulos and the teaching of songs by music teacher Katerina Tsitsa. Giorgos Angelopoulos will do the construction of the sets, and Nikos Tzavaras will do the video and photography.
Twenty-six teenage students from Kalamata middle and high schools are playing.
The story tells of a scarecrow that a hunter-farmer, Mr. Dikanos, put up to scare away the birds that were ruining his garden and eating his vegetables. But the scarecrow becomes friends with the birds and helps them find food more easily. Thus, the scarecrow is tried and sentenced by judges in an unfair trial to be imprisoned and to build thousands of cages to imprison the birds. But the birds free him and lead him to freedom.
It is a musical theatre performance that explores themes of friendship, solidarity, freedom, justice in all its dimensions, the proper functioning of justice, and the right to life of all creatures.
The performance is ideal for audiences from 4 to 104 years old!
