Dimitrakopoulos Shadow Troupe-Karagiozis and the History of Puglia!
Spread the word
The Konstantinos Dimitrakopoulos Shadow Theatre Troupe presents its brand-new production, a performance that brings together traditional shadow theatre and the beloved folk tale of Puglia and Avgerinos. The show will run for two days only at the Kalamata Labour Centre Amphitheatre, on Saturday, March 7th at 19:00 and Sunday, March 8th at 11:30 a.m. and 18:00.
Synopsis:
The beloved folk hero Karagiozis combines traditional shadow theatre with the cherished folk tale of Puglia and Avgerinos in a unique shadow performance. The audience rediscovers the tender story of two siblings, Puglia and Avgerinos, the beloved children of King Orion. Karagiozis, the King’s jester and a servant in the palace, learns of the wicked stepmother’s sinister plans against Puglia and tries to help the two siblings escape and travel as far away as possible. Will the protagonists manage to flee from the cunning stepmother, and if so, how will the barefoot hero help them?
This is a story that celebrates the value of true love and mutual support, an inner journey that connects the heroes and the audience with the timeless richness of folklore, emotion, and redemption. It will be a performance filled with music, generous humour, and heartfelt moments.
