“Karagiozis and the Upside Down Carnival” at Tsikibom Studio!
An original and carnival-themed shadow theatre play by Konstantinos Dimitrakopoulos and Georgia Dimitrakopoulos for a unique performance in the hospitable and lively space of the Tsikibom group on Sunday, February 23, at 5:00 pm!
Plot:
The city of Berde is sleeping. In the morning, Carnival Day dawns! Everything has been ready for days. The floats, the costumes, the music and the fun, are waiting for the beloved paper heroes to bring them to life. Carnival Sunday is coming, but nothing is there anymore! Everything that Karagiozis and his company had set up was missing! Something had happened; Berdes was empty, and someone wanted to ruin the Carnival celebration… Who? The KaliPantzaroi! The well-known Carnival elves appear every hundred years and aim to destroy the celebration to make it their own! The elves Karni and Vali, the strange red creatures, will get our folk hero into trouble. Will he manage to face them and make the Carnival happen? A performance based on Carnival events that unite traditional with modern shadow theatre, full of music! The sequel continues at Berdes!
This is a story of shadows that unites the past with the present. Through contemporary songs and customs, the performance introduces us to or even reminds us of what it is like for people to celebrate together, dance, and sing away from screens and repulsive sounds that alienate us!
