Documentary screening at Doc Cafe-The Voice of the Indigenous Peoples
A journey around the world through the documentaries of the 11th Peloponnese International Documentary Festival
The Kalamata Creative Documentary Centre opens the doors of Doc Cafe this month and invites the city's film-loving public to a month full of images, music and human stories.
For February, Monday and Friday evenings acquire a special interest. The screening program includes selected "diamonds" from the official program of the 11th Peloponnese International Documentary Festival. These are films that have travelled and been loved in other cities of the Festival network and now come to meet the audience of Kalamata in the welcoming space of Doc Cafe.
From the slopes of the Stromboli volcano to the jazz history of Louis Armstrong and from the activism of the Sami to the behind-the-scenes of the Estonian Presidency, the February program promises emotion and food for thought.
The Sami Song of Survival (50') – Dir. Iara Lee (USA/Norway, etc.) In the frozen North, the indigenous Sami people combine art with activism. Between reindeer herding and shamanistic rituals, the new generation proves that existence itself is an act of resistance.
