A journey around the world through the documentaries of the 11th Peloponnese International Documentary Festival
The Kalamata Creative Documentary Centre opens the doors of Doc Cafe this month and invites the city's film-loving public to a month full of images, music and human stories.
For February, Monday and Friday evenings acquire a special interest. The screening program includes selected "diamonds" from the official program of the 11th Peloponnese International Documentary Festival. These are films that have travelled and been loved in other cities of the Festival network and now come to meet the audience of Kalamata in the welcoming space of Doc Cafe.
From the slopes of the Stromboli volcano to the jazz history of Louis Armstrong and from the activism of the Sami to the behind-the-scenes of the Estonian Presidency, the February program promises emotion and food for thought.
Rebel with a Bow Tie (94') – Dir. Jaan Tootsen (Estonia) What happens when a hippie documentary filmmaker finds himself in the Presidential Palace? We follow the President of Estonia, Toomas Hendrik Ilves, an intellectual who feels more comfortable as a DJ than as a head of state, as he tries to balance the international political chessboard with his personal freedom.
