Filmhouse/New Kalamata Cinema Club-BOB TREVINO LIKES IT
Spread the word

What makes a film great? The flashy performances, the rich production or a well-written, complex, ambitious script, all together or none of these? What is the recipe for winning over the audience, besides making films that move and captivate?
BOB TREVINO LIKES IT is a low-key film full of soul, destined to touch the audience's heart directly. Inspired by a true story that sprang from writer/director Tracie Laymon's true friendship with a stranger while searching for her father online, the film is firmly grounded in the present, even as it leans toward romance.
Often playing the role of caregiver to people like her father, who should be hers, Lily Trevino yearns for a family connection after being abandoned by her mother as a child and then suddenly by her father in her twenties. Bob Trevino works long hours alone at a construction company to support his wife, Ginny's, scrapbooking habit. The couple has been through a lot over the past decade, and Bob has tried to put his wife first, to the point of ignoring his own feelings and his need for friendship, meaning, and connection—until he receives an unexpected Facebook message from a stranger.
Lily and Bob's blossoming friendship becomes a vital source of connection and healing in both of their lives. Bob's small acts of fatherly kindness fill a family void in Lily's life and have the power to change her direction forever. In their ways, they must learn that they are worthy of the extraordinary love exemplified through small acts of kindness, and together they leave behind a fantastic message of solidarity destined to touch us all.
