On Wednesday, November 15th (at 21:00), the movie In Westen Nichts Neues, directed by Edward Berger, will be screened at the Kalamata Labour Centre Amphitheatre.
Set in the final days of the First World War, In Westen Nichts Neues follows the life of an idealistic young German soldier named Paul Baumer. After enlisting in the German army with his friends, Baumer finds himself exposed to the war’s realities, dashing his early hopes of becoming a hero as he does his best to survive.
The film received 14 nominations at the British Academy Film Awards (winning seven, including BAFTA Best Film Award) and nine nominations at the 2022 Academy Awards, including Best Film and Best Adapted Screenplay, winning the Academy Awards for Best International Film, Best Original Music Score, Best Art Direction and Best Cinematography.
