Filmhouse/New Kalamata Cinema Club-FALLEN LEAVES
Spread the word
Fallen Leaves is a sweet story of love, hope for a new beginning, mutual respect and solidarity, drawn from the tender and unconventional world of the great humanist of cinema, Aki Kaurismaki.
One night in Helsinki, two lonely people cross paths by chance and discover the magic of "togetherness", searching for the first, absolute and only love of their lives. With a romantic mood but also deeply rooted in reality, "Fallen Leaves" embraces you like a soft blanket in the autumn chill to remind you of the value of humanity, empathy and the greatness of simplicity.
Aki Kaurismaki's cinema, with its nocturnal cityscapes and "untuned" music, quirky Scandinavian humour, delightful self-mockery and alienated heroes awkwardly searching for human warmth and contact, is the ideal backdrop for every moment when harsh reality seems undefeated in a film that won the Jury Prize at the 76th Cannes Film Festival and is Finland's submission for the upcoming International Film Category Oscars.
The revenue from the screening and the entire month of screenings is dedicated to the Messenia Disaster Coping Team. All proceeds from the screenings will be donated to support its cause - it is essential to support the work of the DCT volunteers of Messenia since they pay for everything needed to be used in high-risk events.
