Jason, a young fan of kung fu movies, discovers a mysterious ancient staff and is transported to the mythical world of ancient China. There, with the help of two legendary martial arts masters, he embarks on a dangerous mission to return the legendary weapon to its rightful owner and free the Monkey King.
The Forbidden Kingdom combines adventure, fantasy, humour and spectacular kung fu choreography with a coming-of-age story about courage, discipline and self-discovery.
The film is particularly notable as the first major on-screen meeting of two legends of martial arts cinema, Jackie Chan and Jet Li, in an entertaining adventure that also serves as a tribute to classic kung fu cinema.
