A beautiful, stone built village. Also known as Poliana, took its name in honor of Saint Nikon who lived in the village and acted during the second half of the 10th century. Saint Nikon travelled all over Mani to reinforce and strengthen Christianity, (980-998), proselytizing the Slavs of Taygetos. According to tradition, he lived in a cave to the east of the village.
It is worth visiting the last village of Messinia to the east for its unique view to the Messinian gulf and its scenic square.
