The picturesque village of Neromylos is 25 km from Kalamata and has about 330 permanent residents. The semi-mountainous village, located in a green landscape with running waters, was called Miska until 1927. In the Venetian census that took place in 1689, the village is found by the same name and it is mentioned that it had had 24 families and 104 inhabitants in total. Pausanias mentions the area as "Viantos", by Vias, son of Amythaon, one of the first settlers of Pylos and one of the founders of the Olympic Games. The current name of the village is due to the two watermills located in the area called “Potistika”.
In the village with the stone houses, the narrow alleys and the big stone arches, the church of Agios Georgios, as well as the Folklore Museum, which is housed in the old Primary School are worth visiting. Finally, every August in the old schoolyard, the Pie Festival is organized with great success by the Neromylos Women Association.
