The Messenia Railway Friends Association is organising a New Year's Eve event on Wednesday, December 31st, 2025, at noon at the Central Railway Station in Kalamata. Specifically, within the framework of the festive events of the Municipality of Kalamata, the Messenia Railway Friends Association in collaboration with the PolisArt Cooperative Society of Kalamata and the "Greek Railways M.A.E./O.S.E. is organising, with the support of the Municipality, the circulation of a special passenger train which will arrive at the Central Railway Station of Kalamata on New Year's Eve, Wednesday, December 31st, at 12:00 noon. The train will be loaded with New Year's gifts and will have as passengers "Santa Claus" with his "Elves", who, after arrival, will distribute the gifts to the children who will be waiting at the Station with their families.
A celebration will be held at the Railway Station, with the central focus on the children's entertainment and experiential activities, and they will receive their gifts from Santa Claus after the train's arrival. Children and their families will have the opportunity to board the train for a short journey to the Akovitika area and return to the Railway Station.
The original arrival of Santa Claus in Kalamata by train will bring the popular Christmas film "The Polar Express" to life for children, and it will be an exceptional experience for those who missed it during regular operations. It will send the message that the Peloponnese train is here, alive, and awaiting its reopening.
