Efklis-A Greetings at Great Mantineia

On Friday, February 27th, 2026, the members and friends of the “Efklis” Kalamata Hiking and Mountaineering Association will attend the First Greetings Service at the Holy Church of the Dormition of the Theotokos in Megali Mantineia, in the regional unit of Messenia.
They will be welcomed by Father Miltiadis Spyropoulos. The church warden, Dimitrios Kozombolis, will guide them to the old stone School, built between 1743 and 1753, as well as to the Holy Church of the Annunciation of the Theotokos, which had been used as a school before the war until 1960.
Finally, they will visit the Holy Church of the Dormition of the Theotokos, a building dating back to 1720, featuring a remarkable carved wooden iconostasis.
The First Greetings Service marks the beginning of the Lenten Triodion period, dedicated to the Most Holy Theotokos.
Essentially, the Salutations prepare the faithful for Holy Week, which follows.
