Kalamata Mountaineering Association-River crossing on the Arcadian River

On Sunday, July 12th, 2026, the Kalamata Mountaineering Association invites you to a special summer excursion to the Arkadikos River, also known as the Selleikos River, next to the village of Sellas (formerly Randou), in one of the most beautiful and cool natural landscapes of Messenia.
The route will develop mainly in the riverbed. Dense vegetation touches the water, towering plane trees create natural shadows, and the constant presence of water offers a unique feeling of coolness.
Calm, serenity and the colours of nature will accompany us throughout the descent to Samaropetra and on our return to the starting point, where there will be time for a last dip in the large lake.
After completing the excursion, we will visit the village of Sellas, where we will have time to enjoy coffee, refreshments or traditional snacks.
Difficulty level: 1+
Walking time: approximately 4-5 hours.
