The "Efklis" Kalamata Hikers and Mountaineers Association will welcome 2026 on Mount Taygetos, in the Artemisia area.
On Sunday, January 11th, 2026, we will set off to Mount Taygetos to climb to the top of Mount Lykoureios, to Agios Georgios.
An impressive peak between the villages of Artemisia and Lada with an incredible view of the slopes of Mount Taygetos.
Starting from the Holy Monastery of Agios Ioannis Prodromos (Mele Monastery), we will ascend through a path with low vegetation at first, then along a path with arias and kumarias to the top, then turn around on another path from the back of the mountain to Agia Paraskevi.
Route details:
Circular route 11.4 km. and walking time 4:30 (+/-).
Difficulty level A+ (3/5) for hikers in good physical condition.
At the end of the excursion, the group will visit the Folklore Museum of Artemisia, and then have their meal at ''Michalis' Mezedopoleio".
