Companions In Nature-Night Climb to Mount Taygetos

On Saturday, JULY 12th at 11:15 pm, we will start in our cars for the Sparta refuge. From there, the evening climb to the highest peak of Taygetos, Prophet Elias at 2,407 m, will begin. We will start this fantastic route from the refuge and ascend to Lakkomata and Gouves, a succession of basin-shaped depressions. The continuation to the top is very impressive, as the route enters Plakes and follows the layers of limestone, which seem to have formed a natural paved path. Arriving at Portes, the large ridge saddle, and beginning the final climb to the summit, the entire grandeur of Taygetos gradually unfolds around us, with the Broken Mountain standing out to the west. We pass near a small chasm and reach the peak of Prophet Elias.
NECESSARY EQUIPMENT: Mountaineering boots, backpack. Headlamp, walking stick, jacket, gloves, hat, water, and snacks.
