Karagiozis and the Upside Down Carnival
Spread the word
A brand new and original Halloween shadow show by Konstantinos and Georgia Dimitrakopoulos for one performance to the public on Saturday, March 9th, at 18:00 at the Kalamata Philharmonic Amphitheatre!
Story: The day of the Carnival has arrived! Chariots, costumes, music and fun await your favourite heroes to bring them to life. The group disguises themselves and visits Karagiozis to celebrate together! In an instant, the lights go out, all the preparations disappear, and strange music can be heard in the distance. Everything that Karagiozis and his company had set up is missing! Someone wanted to spoil the Halloween celebration...
Who? The KaliPantjars! The well-known Halloween elves that appear every hundred years and aim to destroy the celebration! Elves Karni and Vali, crimson strange creatures, will get our folk hero into trouble. Will he manage to face them and the Carnival take place?
You'll find the answer on stage!
The Dimitrakopoulos Shadow Troupe comes from Kalamata! Based on their study and experience, they perform Karagiozis shows with passion, love and respect! Their goal is for the young viewers to get to know the traditional but, at the same time, modern face of Karagiozis and his company through the art of the Shadow Theatre! Our folk hero becomes a bearer of messages praising friendship, the value and goods of peace, and protecting the environment through his funny and sarcastic character!
In this particular performance, they try to unite yesterday with today. Through modern songs and customs, the show comes to remind us what it is like for people to celebrate together, to dance and sing away from the screens and disgusting sounds that alienate them!
