Heterotopia Project-It's terrible to return home
Spread the word
The Heterotopia Project and Kondyli Publications invite you to the presentation of the collective volume Terrible to Return Home, created by the feminist and social writing collective sister outsider, on Thursday, 18th June 2026, at 20:00, at Stoa Lontou.
The collection was inspired by the final interview of poet Maria Laina and her poignant phrase, “Terrible to return home.” Drawing from these words, the sister outsider collective issued an open call for submissions, gathering dozens of texts that explore the many dimensions of gendered and social experience.
The resulting anthology brings together 47 works in a polyphonic volume that moves from abuse to resistance, from femicides to collective struggles, from the search for identity to the building of communities, from the lives of ordinary women to urban margins and remote rural regions, and from Gaza to Tempi train disaster.
The book features contributions from a diverse group of writers, including Lemonia-Monika Avagianni, Effie Arvaniti, Eleni Vernadaki, Chrysoula Georgoula, Katerina Grevia, Melania Damianou, Elina Drakopoulou, Effie Zografou, Kornilia Kadoglou, Christina Katsari, Magdalini Krystallinou, Evi Liakea, Markia Liapi, Panagiota Mavridou, Vicky Moirotsou, Georgia Oikonomopoulou, Maria Petridi, Katerina Protonotariou, Sofia Simaki, Irini Skoura, Vania Syrmou, Marilena Tzannetatou, Yianna Tziveleki, Evgenia Tzirtzilaki, Sevina Floridou, Evi Chatzicharalampous, Abdallah Alghoul, and others.
