On Monday, 14th September 2026, at 21:00, the film-opera-pastiche À Paris tous les deux by the National Opera of Greece will be presented on the Main Stage of the Kalamata Dance Megaron.
Drawing inspiration from the pastiche, an artistic form that has existed in music since the 18th century and refers to the creation of a new musical work by combining excerpts from different works by one or more composers, Vasilis Louras creates a new work comprising stories of love and death set in Paris. Five stories from La Traviata, La Bohème, Manon, Louise and Le Tabarro come together in a silent episodic film, directed by Michalis Asthenidis and Vasilis Louras, and produced by Stella Angeletou, presented with live musical accompaniment.
Excerpts from the operas of Verdi, Puccini, Massenet, Charpentier and Offenbach are performed by sopranos Chrysa Maliyamani and Anna Stylianaki, and tenor Manos Kokkonis. On piano are Marilena Souris and Christos Sakellaridis.
The film opera is presented with free admission, as part of the National Opera of Greece’s touring programme Greek National Opera Travels Around Greece, implemented with the support of the Stavros Niarchos Foundation to promote the artistic outreach of the GNO. The production is a co-production of the Greek National Opera and the Théâtre du Châtelet in Paris.
