Kalamata Creative Documentary Centre-Screenings for Palestine
Spread the word
The Peloponnese International Documentary Festival and the Athens Palestine Film Festival invite you to a month of Palestinian cinema at the Kalamata Creative Documentary Centre.
April is dedicated to Palestine and its artists as a sign of support and solidarity for the Palestinian people. The Greek artists call for an end to the genocide, the killing of civilians and the ongoing humanitarian crisis experienced by the Gaza people.
From the struggles of daily life to stories of endurance and hope, the programme promises a diverse range of perspectives, shedding light on various aspects of Palestinian life and culture. Through four films, we will follow the hardships and injustices still experienced by the Palestinian people, and we, for our part, ask for an end to war crimes and for the prevailing silence to be broken.
The collaboration's screenings will take place on Mondays, April 8th, 15th, 22nd and 29th, at 8:30 pm, at the Kalamata Creative Documentary Centre.
Throughout the month, there will be a financial aid box on site, with the proceeds going to the financial aid of Palestinian artists.
MONDAY APRIL 8th - Ghost Hunting, by Raed Andoni, (94'), 2017
In order to confront the ghosts that haunt him, Palestinian filmmaker Raed Andoni assembles a selected group of ex-prisoners to recreate Al-Moskobiya, Israel's main interrogation centre, where he was imprisoned at the age of 18. Day by day, these builders, a blacksmith, an architect, and an assistant director share their memories of how they survived with courage and humour. As the cell walls rise, emotions relax.
