Spread the word
The musical black comedy by the "Melifono" Vocal Ensemble titled “8 Women are Accused” will be presented on Monday, May 18th, 2026, at 20:30 at the Black Box at Kalamata Dance Megaron. This original musical theatre production is based on the legendary crime thriller by Robert Thomas, “8 Women are Accused.” Admission is free for the public.
Synopsis
An isolated house. A violent snowstorm. A murder. Eight women, wife, lover, daughters, sisters, maids, become trapped in the same space. None has an unquestionable alibi. Each has a possible motive. As secrets are revealed, relationships are tested and the truth becomes increasingly blurred.
The Music, the “Invisible” Witness
The innovation of the performance lies in the organic connection between theatrical dialogue and live choral music. Melifono Vocal Ensemble does not simply accompany the action, it becomes part of the mystery itself.
The repertoire, carefully selected to convey the tension and suspense of the plot, includes works by Giorgos Kyparissis, Kim André Gimon, Ola Gjeilo, Gustav Holst, Franz Schubert, Tomaž Vulc, and Frode Fjellheim, along with elements from the Cretan musical tradition. The voices of the ensemble members intertwine with the dialogue, creating a soundscape that highlights the heroines’ psychology and the mounting suspense leading to the final revelation.
A performance where mystery, humour, and choral music coexist in a deeply atmospheric theatrical experience.
