Carnival event from the Municipal Conservatory of Kalamata
Spread the word
The Municipal Conservatory of Kalamata, as part of the Carnival events organised by the Municipality of Kalamata and Faris, will hold an event on Monday, February 16th, 2026, at 20:00, in the Concert Hall of the Municipal Conservatory of Kalamata, featuring references to the Carnival of Venice.
The Conservatory’s invitation reads:
“Here, then, is a wonderful opportunity to turn our attention to Venice of the 17th and 18th centuries...
Who was the Red Priest?
Why did Maestro Antonio Vivaldi write 39 concertos for bassoon?
Was Venice famous only for its music, or for something else as well?
What were the rights of Venetian women according to prenuptial contracts?
Farinelli or Anna Girò?
What were orange peels doing in the Venetian operas?
Who managed to enter the secrets of the Ospedale della Pietà besides Vivaldi?
What connection did Casanova have with music?
And finally, what was and what is the connection between Kalamata and Venice?
Meanwhile, Venice enthusiast Stathis Gyftakis will also speak to you about the ill-formed pearl of… the Baroque.
This time, however, he will be joined by distinguished guests!
Put on your masks, preferably Venetian ones, and come along!”
Free admission!
