Memorial service for the victims in Cyprus in '74

On Sunday, July 19th, 2026, at 10:00 a.m., the Municipality of Kalamata will hold a Memorial Service at the Metropolitan Church of the Presentation of Christ (Ypapanti) in honour of the Greek and Cypriot servicemen and civilians who lost their lives during the 1974 coup d'état and the Turkish invasion of Cyprus.
Following the service, Sofia Nikolaou, a member of the Board of Directors of the Messinia Prefecture Cypriot Association "Pentadaktylos", will deliver a commemorative address.
At 10:30 a.m., a memorial ceremony will take place at the Heroes' Memorial (Iroon) in 23rd March Square, featuring the reading of the names of the fallen and missing from Kalamata, the laying of wreaths, a one-minute silence in honour of the heroes, and the playing of the Greek National Anthem.
Representing the House of Representatives of the Republic of Cyprus, Nicosia MP Andreas Konstantinou will attend the commemorative events in Kalamata.
