The Municipality of Kalamata, the FARIS Public Benefit Enterprise, and the Philological Association of Messenia are announcing the M. Polydouris Competition for the debutant poets' poetry prize, in memory of poetess M. Polydouri, with a cash prize of €3,000.00 (three thousand euros).
The award is annual and pan-Hellenic. It is awarded to "Polydouria," and this year will be the 14th time the event will be held.
The application for participation in the award must be accompanied by the poetry collection, which has been published in the previous year of the prize (for this year, published until 31-12-2023) and submitted to the Secretariat of K.E "FARIS" in person or by post, at the address: 99 Athens str., 2nd Building of the New City Hall, (tel. 27213 60619-611) until 31/05/2024, before the end of this deadline, in five (5) copies, marked "For the M. Polydouris Poetry Award".
The Committee, which will judge these poetry collections and those that, in its opinion, have not been submitted (if the submitted ones do not satisfy the members of the Committee), has five members and was formed based on the Regulations for the Establishment of the "M. Polydouri" Poetry Prize, as follows:
- The respective Mayor of Kalamata or his designated representative, as Chairman of the Committee
- A Professor of the University of Peloponnese with preference, professor of Modern Greek Philology
- The Speech and Letters of K.E. FARIS Head of Planning artistic activities or a K.E. FARIS representative alternate member appointed by the Board of Directors' decision
- Two representatives from the Philological Association of Messenia, the respective President and a member from the Board of Directors of the Philological Association of Messenia.
- If the Committee deems that the submitted collections for the year 2023 do not meet the required criteria, it reserves the right not to award the prize accordingly.
