Messenian Philologists Association
The Messenian Philologists Association was founded in January 1988 and is a branch of the Panhellenic Philologists Association, which publishes the magazine "Philologia". The Association's primary goals are to inform its philological members on educational matters, inform the broader community on literary issues, and introduce them to representatives of the art of speech.
Every year, the Philological Association of Messenia organises various events while participating in various artistic activities. Also, in collaboration with the Municipality of Kalamata, it engages in "Polydourea". Seeking to help the work of philologists as teachers, it organises conferences, informative seminars, and experiential workshops.
In 2009, the Reading Club of the Messenian Philologists Association operated, for the first time, in the 1st Gymnasium of Kalamata with the object of studying and presenting Messenian writers. Soon, it was hosted at the Kalamata Public Library, and since then, the Reading Club has been held there on the first Tuesday of every month. Finally, the meetings and the topics are announced in the local press.
