Evidence exhibition from the Kalamata earthquake (1986)

In the Library’s main area, thematic tables have been set up featuring an exhibition of issues of the newspaper Kalamata News (all of Kalamata’s newspapers collaborated to publish Kalamata News during the earthquake period), front pages from the Athens press, as well as a first-time presentation of photographic material documenting the days of the earthquakes.
The Athens newspaper front pages and the photographs come from the archive of Nikos I. Zervas. The original musical composition accompanying the exhibition was created by musician and composer Vasia Florou.

The exhibition is part of the activities organised by the Municipality of Kalamata and the Municipality of Kalamata’s Civil Protection Department, whom we sincerely thank for their cooperation, marking the 40th anniversary of the earthquakes.
