Filmhouse/New Kalamata Cinema Club-City Lights
Spread the word
In a bustling city, an unemployed wanderer meets and falls in love with a blind flower seller and does everything to secure the money for the surgery that will give her sight.
Centred on Charlo, who struggles to survive in the violent environment of the financial crisis, the film-myth of American cinema tells a universal love story that overcomes language and cultural barriers. "City Lights" is both a touching comedy and an urban parable that deals with social injustice but also unadulterated love.
Approaching the end of the year, feeling the need each time even more to receive and share love, we meet with the Kalamata Philharmonic in the City Lights, rendering the film musically with the most beautiful finale in the history of cinema a timeless, universal work that defies selfless giving and love without limits.
The Municipal Philharmonic of Kalamata and the New Kalamata Cinema Club present Charlie Chaplin's film "City Lights", accompanied by live music, in an event with free admission sponsored by the Municipality of Kalamata.
In this unique evening with the Philharmonic, soloist Maria Papapetropoulou will be on piano, Antoine Banville will be on percussion, and Marilena Papapetropoulou will be on vocals.
The event is dedicated to the vital role of the SOS Children's Villages of Greece. The entrance will be free, and there will be a piggy bank with a free contribution for any spectator who wishes to strengthen the SOS Children's Villages of Greece in Kalamata structures.
