THE DOG'S MOTHER
Spread the word

Following the great success it had this year's theatre season at the Acropolis Theatre, Pavlos Matesi's iconic play, "The Dog's Mother", which is among the 1001 books of world literature that one must read in their lifetime, will be presented this summer on tour, in major cities of Greece, directed by Kostas Gakis and with music and songs by Stamatis Kraounakis.
Yro Mane plays the heroine Raraou, one of the most heartbreaking yet extremely dynamic personalities in modern Greek literature.
Raraou, with an almost delirious and unexpectedly humorous speech, a soul wounded by a wound that cannot heal, narrates the Odyssey of her existence, walking the fine line between fantasy and reality. Through the prism of this unique heroine, the audience watches her dramatic, yet full of humour, life–from the occupation and the civil war to the dictatorship and the transition to democracy, it passes through her distorting filter.
Raraou, the actress, will take to the stage of her imagination, determined to finally shine as an absolute protagonist and experience her personal recognition and rebirth. The performance transports the audience to a world of unexpected but extremely human moments.
In "The Dog's Mother", Raraou, through her unique personal language, brings to life moments from her life's journey. Around her, a colourful, dynamic and ever-moving troupe of "ghosts" magically brings to light everyday faces, engraved in her soul, to offer the audience emotion and laughter. Through music, choreography and images, the hidden trauma that has marked her life is transformed into something bright and optimistic!
