“The Ritual” by Pavlos Matesis at the Cultural Centre of Kalamata
Spread the word
Pavlos Matesis’ iconic play “The Ritual” is presented by the Syn Ena–Michalis Toumpouros theatre group, directed by Kostas Katsoulakis, at the Kalamata Cultural Centre from November 8th to 30th.
It is one of the most caustic and timeless Greek tragedies of the absurd, which, with black humour and irony, exposes bourgeois decency and social hypocrisy. In the performance, the family becomes the scene of a strange ritual, where the boundaries between the ridiculous and the tragic are erased – as are the boundaries between the roles of the perpetrator and the victim.
The directorial vision of Kostas Katsoulakis promises a modern, sharp approach to the work, highlighting its timelessness and its relevance to today.
Performances will be given every Thursday and Friday at 21:15 and every Saturday and Sunday at 20:00.
Reservations can be made by calling 6907079991 and 6934409269, as well as at the Kalamata Cultural Centre (from 5/11, every Wednesday to Sunday, 18:00–21:00).
