A journey into the little-known story of Greek women who left their homeland alone, without their husbands, boarding trains from Larissa Railway Station bound for an uncertain future in West Germany.
During the 1960s and 1970s, these “invisible” Gastarbeiterinnen worked hard in German factories, faced racism and the painful separation from their children, and yet remained resilient. They found their independence, transformed their lives, and ultimately changed the fate of their families.
Through rare archival footage and deeply moving testimonies, Kostoula Tomadaki’s documentary pays tribute to the mother, the wife, and the migrant worker, whose courage and determination shaped a generation and left an enduring mark on the families they left behind.
