National Weather Station old building

The old meteorological station of Methoni operated in this building from 1953 to 1980, when it was relocated to a new building which was equipped with contemporary measuring and observation instruments.

There had been meteorological measurements in Methoni since 1934 and the elementary school principal was initially responsible for them. Later, more measuring and observation instruments were placed, staffed by an employee of the National Meteorological Service and the station operated in rented buildings until 1953.

In 1997 the station joined the National Meteorological Service station network.

The building has been granted to the Municipality but to this day remains unused.
